Lori and I wanted to THANK YOU again for a fantastic trip! From
the start of the trip with our visits to Schotia, Addo and Daniels
to Lori’s first animal, we thoroughly enjoyed our entire visit.
You and your entire staff are to thank for that. We really appreciated
that you took 2 days off of work to provide personal tours our first
days there.
Your new lodge is tremendous. The accommodations were excellent,
the setting beautiful and character/warmth of the lodge made us
feel right at home. As we mentioned, whatever you’re paying
your “chef”, it’s not enough. Vanessa is a wonderful
cook and host. Thank her again for all her hospitality.
Say hello to the rest of your staff for us…Mario, Abri, Thurston,
Vanessa’s mom etc.
Thanks again for a great adventure/trip…I’m sure you’ll
see Lori, myself and baby McClain again in the future!
Take care and we’ll keep in touch.

I got to celebrate my 50th birthday in South Africa this May(2008),
with 4 of my best friends, and as the first guests in a beautiful
new lodge.
Kerneels, and Vanessa Scholtz of “Valley Bushveld Safaris”
rolled out the red carpet for the 5 of us, and treated us like celebrities.
The new lodge is more beautiful than any of us expected, combined
with the buffet/ family style meals, and total attention to all
of our needs, going hunting every day was like an added bonus to
an already wonderful vacation.
All of the staff, from the Owners, to the PH’s, and even the
Skinners, are now considered new friends, and we look forward to
seeing them again some day.
Oh, I almost forgot, not only was I the first guest to score on
a beautiful KUDU (with a bow), But all 5 of us bagged each of the
various trophies we were after.
Thanks again Kerneels, Vanessa, and Tom for a wonderful hunt, great
food, fun, and the best birthday a guy could ask for.

Africa was a dream that became a reality. I was fortunate enough
to share the dream with 4 personal friends and my new friends at
Valley Bushveld Safaris.
The trip was in celebration of three of us turning
50 years old. Bob’s 50th birthday took place during our visit
to Valley Bushveld Safaris. Kerneels and Vanessa coordinated a surprise
birthday party capping off with a birthday cake frosted with a picture
of Bob and his archery Kudu taken 4 days earlier.
Being the first group to open the new lodge was
an honor. The accommodations were very nice, consisting of a fire
pit on the deck, comfortable sitting area indoors anchored by a
large fire place, vaulted ceiling with many of Kerneel’s trophies
displayed, a large dining table, a beautiful wood bar and wonderful
sleeping quarters. The daily laundry service provided fresh hunting
clothes every day. Vanessa’s daily cuisine was second to none,
featuring many of the animals we harvested and others to ensure
we tried everything.
The PH staff and trackers/skinners were fabulous.
There were many of evenings the skinning shed had activity late
into the night ensuring the trophies and meat was properly processed.
Considering I hunt in Colorado, I went to Africa not quite sure
what a PH’s role was. I came away with a huge amount of respect
for each and everyone of them. A special thanks to Abrie, for making
the dream come true, the bear hugs we shared, singing country music
in the buggy and laughing until we were in tears.
Thanks again to Valley Bushveld Safaris for helping
me fulfil a lifelong dream and I look forward the next opportunity
to sit around the fire pit on the patio talking about old times.

Kerneels and Vanessa!
I have so many wonderful memories of my trip. Your
lodge was beautiful and absolutely perfect in every way. The rooms
were wonderful, comfortable and decorated beautifully. The food
was amazing!! It was exciting to have the opportunity to try different
dishes that I will never have here in the states. Every meal was
a unique and extraordinary experience. I miss Vanessa and her amazing
culinary skills!! Your staff is fantastic. They all made the trip
with their unique personalities, dedication to ensuring our good
time and comfort but most importantly their ability to make me feel
as if I am with friends from the start. Their constant attention
to anticipating whatever we wanted was awesome. As a Mom and non
hunter it was great to be waited on and have someone take care of
me!! I felt like I fit in right from the start even being the only
girl and the only non hunter. Coming into this as an observer I
had no intention of shooting a gun. Their obvious knowledge, skill,
and comfort level gave me the confidence to take a chance.....and
I did it! The guys being excited to take a novice out to the shooting
range and then out in the bush with a loaded gun does leave me questioning
their mental stability though. Maybe they had bullet proof vests
under their gear. Whatever the case it was the time of my life.
My side tours and guide were great. I loved all of my tours and
realized that 10 days is not enough to see all the wonderful sights
of your beautiful country. Thank you both for taking time to do
things with me that I will treasure forever. If couldn't have chosen
a better place then yours and I hope to return.
Tell everyone there that I said hello!! Miss them
all and hope to see them again. Tell Thurston not to go and get
engaged anytime soon as Meagan is preparing for her move to SA.
Keep in touch and let me know if you make it to
the states for any of the hunting shows.
Also know that you are all welcome here anytime.
If you make it to the states we would love to have you here in our
home.

When the animals are ready to ship, remember I will need to have
mine shipped in a separate container from the others. We are very
excited to get the animals here to show everyone.
Again, THANK YOU for the enjoyable time you are a honest person,

I had the great pleasure of hunting with Valley Bushveld Safaris
from May 10 to May 22, 2004. This was truly the experience of a
life time.
We began planning our trip in late 2002. By early 2003, and after
checking out several outfitters, we had settled on Valley Bushveld
as our choice. We made the correct choice. Kerneels was very helpful
and was very anxious to assist us in planning our hunt and in the
selection of the appropriate packages. Kerneels answered all of
our questions in a very timely manner. He was never any further
away than an email. Answers were returned within days and sometimes
within hours.
This adventure was first class from the time we arrived in Port
Elizabeth until we were dropped off to begin our journey home. Our
Professional Hunters met us at the airport and took us to the lodge
we would call home for the next 18 days. There were three of us
hunting and each hunter had an observer. Each hunter was successful
the first day. This success continued during the duration of the
hunt. Our group got 27 very nice trophies. These trophies included
Waterbuck, Nyala, Kudu, Gemsbok, Blue Wildebeest, Eland, Blesbuck
and many, many more. My two friend's wives even got into the act,
taking a very nice Kudu and White Blesbuck. My White Blesbuck wet
measured very high in SCI.
We could not have been this successful without the knowledge and
skill of our Professional Hunters. They were fantastic. Each was
able to spot game and quickly evaluate the trophy quality at long
distances. Their skill in stalking game was extraordinary. It was
clear they liked what they were doing and wanted us to do well.
My Professional Hunter brought out the very best in me. We became
a team very quickly. He included my 20 year old daughter in all
of our activities. She had a great time and wants to return with
me.
The accommodations were very comfortable. Separate rooms were provided.
The rooms were cleaned and made up daily. The laundry service was
excellent. Tough stains were removed from all of my clothes.
As a group we had decided before our trip that we wanted to eat
what the South Africans eat. We were treated to a variety of local
dishes that were very good. Several meals of different game meat
were provided. All were very tender and tasty. Fresh venison sausage,
which was made on the farm, was always a treat.
When we were done hunting Kerneels had arranged six days of sight
seeing for us. We all had a great time visiting game preserves,
Addo Elephant Park and the resort towns of Jeffries Bay and Knysna.
I could go on for pages about this trip and the fantastic job done
by Kerneels and his staff. Words do not express my gratitude to
them. You will just have to experience this for yourself.
The strongest recommendation I can give is that I am planning to
return to Valley Bushveld Safaris in 2005 for another "Adventure
of a life time."
Please feel free to call or email if you have any questions.

Hello Kerneels, Vanessa and your little cherubs--Just wanted to
let you know you did a GREAT job as travel planners, as all the
hotels we stayed at, the wine tour, and all the things we saw were
FANTASTIC! The garden route was even more breathtaking than we expected;
I think next time, we'll take an extra day to explore it more. We
didn't make the Cape peninsula (we were too busy exploring the V
& A waterfront and the casino), but that will give us something
else to come back for. The casino was quite impressive, even to
jaded Las Vegas veterans like us. The City Lodge was fine, and there's
also an elegant hotel connected to the casino. All in all we really
enjoyed everything we saw and did and felt very safe at all times.
Thank you both for everything (and to you especially, Kerneels,

In early October I had the pleasure to hunt with Kerneels and Bushveld
Safaris. This was my first African hunt.. From the time that Françoise
my PH picked me up at Pt Elizabeth until he and Kali sent me on
my way home I had an experience that knocked the boots off any hunt
I ever had. I live in Alaska. I have hunted all over the United
States, eastern whitetails, elk, moose, and caribou in Alaska, Canada,
Oregon, Texas, New Jersey, Penn. New York and California. I will
never be happy again until I hunt In the East Cape with Bushveld.
I managed to take 4 of the 5 animals I was after. Only the gemsbok
eluded us. No fault of Françoise or the wonderful Nicko Becker
who's property has the Gems. In spite of 8 days of hard hunting
we couldn't find them. I did score on a wonderful Impala, both a
common blesbuck and a white one. My wildebeest will make a wonderful
rug. The animals are being mounted through a contact that Kerneels
has. I arrived a client and left a friend. As far ad Françoise
is concerned. If you ever have the opportunity to use him as a PH,
DO IT. As far as Kali, he is one of the finest tracker and sportsmen
I ever met. After hitting my white blesbuck a little further than
I wanted to, Kali found him dead as a rock after a 1 1/2 hour track.
Mean while, Françoise and I spent time checking herd to make
sure the white one hadn't rejoined the rest. Thanks again Kali,
my African brother. I wish I had one tenth the bushcraft you have
in your soul. From the first hour of arrival, after checking my
scope, to the first ride in the bush, herds of heartabeest and blue
wildebeest and impala were surrounding me. Every day was a joy.
Game everywhere you looked was evident. Thank God for Kali who managed
to get the truck to where Françoise and I could jump on when
the male ostrich tried to take us on. The accomidations were great.
and Patty, our cook could do things with wild game I didn't believe.
I would kill for another helping of spingbok. Everything was as
promised. For Jack the Ridgeback I send my love and thanks for a
doggie fix that I needed. To the little warthog that knocked me
down and licked my neck, your picture is on my desk at work and
some of the guys I work with are starting to worry about me. For
Kali, my greatest respect and best wishes. Kali I need an address
for you. I have some goodies to sent. To my host, Kerneels and Vanessa
my thanks. and to Françoise, he never realized he became
the brother I never had. Feel free to contract me for further information.
I hold all at Bushveld in the highest regards.
I will be back soon.

Dear Kerneels and Vanessa,
Thank you so much for a wonderful hunting experience and vacation.
You, the Professional Hunters, and the rest of you staff were wonderful.
Everything about the experience exceeded our expectations. Going
after nine animals is one thing, to actually bag that many in ten
days was unbelievable. The accommodations at the lapa were wonderful.
Jill was very pleased about the private bath and hot water. The
meals were great (usually too much food), even the lunches over
the open fire.
We really enjoyed our visits with everyone around the fireplace.
It was a great chance to discuss all the changes in your country
since my 1985 motorcycle trip.
Jill enjoyed the hunts she participated in and Ansi was terrific
in helping her bag her blesbuck. But she really enjoyed and appreciated
the two horseback rides that you arranged for her. That, the trip
to Addo Elephant Park and the Lion Park, and having someone else
prepare the meals and do the laundry made her vacation complete.
Thanks again for the wonderful experience and your hospitality.
Hope we can return someday and get my Kudu.

I’m from Alaska, the Mecca of North American hunting. I had
decided long ago that one day I will Hunt Africa. So, when that
day came, I was referred to Bushveld Safari’s. A friend of
mine had hunted with them the year before. It had been his fourth
trip to Africa hunting, and he stated that it was he best Hunt to
date. So, I e-mailed Kerneels Scholtz, and the slow agonizing wait
began. Well, let me tell you, it was worth the wait!!! Kerneels
answered every question I had prior to my hunt. From the time I
arrived in Port Elizabeth, up to my departure, I was taken care
of every step of the way. Bushveld Safari’s has a wide variety
of package Hunt’s to choose from, and they cater to the serious
Hunter. I took five animals on my Hunt, and all five were Trophy
class. If it’s quality Trophy animals you’re looking
for, Bushveld Safari’s will do everything in their power to
help you achieve your goals. The quality of their service doesn’t
stop after the kill. They make an extra effort to make sure that
you get that good picture, so that the memories will last a lifetime.
But it doesn’t stop there. Your Trophy is then packed out
by the packers, and brought to a processing station. There you will
see the exceptional skill, and care that is used to prepare of your
cape’s, and back skins for the Taxidermist.
Last, but not least, the food and accommodations. Let’s face
it, to have a quality Hunt, you need good rest, and good food. There
are definitely no worries in that department. I think I gained weight
while I was there, and slept like a baby. Of course some people
said I snored. I can hardly believe that. Ha! Ha!
The bottom line is, if you are looking for a quality Hunt in South
Africa, I recommend you book with Bushveld Safari’s. I did,
and my results are going on the wall!

Hello Kerneels,
I want to thank you again for making my South African Safari the
trip of a lifetime. I have hunted in Canada, Alaska, and all over
the United States but I have never experienced a hunt that even
comes close to the quality you provide. From the moment I arrived
at the Port Elizabeth airport and found David, my professional hunter,
waiting patiently for me until he returned me to the airport I was
treated like royalty. David's knowledge of the South African plains
animals and their behavior was outstanding. David located each and
every animal I desired, in a truly fair chase manner. The accommodations
and cuisine at the lodge were superb. I think I actually gained
a few pounds during my safari.
The number and quality of animals I encountered during my safari
was beyond belief. I harvested all eight animals in my package and
even had the opportunity to add an additional trophy, which by the
way, qualified not only for the Safari Club International Record
Book but also qualified for the South African Roland Award.
Kerneels, I would like to take this opportunity to highly recommend
that anyone wishing to hunt South African plains game to book their
safari with you. The attention to detail you provide each and every
client can not be duplicated by any other outfitter at any price.
I don't know how you continually provide the service you do at such
a low price. I have paid more for a single Elk Hunt in Colorado
that I did for your eight animal, ten day safari. Your prices are
beyond compare. You truly provide your clients with that "
hunt of a lifetime" which will be remembered for the rest of
their lifetime.
I look forward to hunting with you again in the near future.

I recently went on a Safari with you, with my brother and my 17

We all had a Great time.I really liked the lodge. The rustic huts
and the diners around the campfires really brought the Africa adventure
home to me.
I really liked hunting with Kerneels, one day hunting with him and
you knew that he was an experienced hunter. If you have done any
hunting at all,you will really appreciate his knowledge and expertise.I
am sure that the other guides and hunters were just as good but
I spent most of my hunting with Kerneels and was impressed. He gave
me all the opportunities to acquire all the animals that I was hunting. If
there was any disappointment at all during the hunting it was when
a hunter is confronted with that perfect shot and nerves or faulty
equipment fails to make that bullet hit its mark. Not that it happened
to me or anything,Ha Ha.
I could go on and on with good remarks but one more that I want
to emphasis
is the fact that it was affordable. You always hear about people
going on an Africa Safari and them spending thousands upon thousands
of dollars. Then you put that in your head that its only for the
rich, and dont even think about it anymore.
You made it affordable and I didn't have to go in debt to do it

Thank you very much for the great hunt. The number of animals seen
and the quality of the animals was great. This was my fourth trip
to Africa, but the first trip for my wife, Linda. This was the best
hunt yet. I will never forget the long crawl to get close enough
to my black wildebeest to get a shot. I will also remember the excitement
of getting a close shot at a very large Eland after a long tracking
job. This is what I call the thrill of the hunt! I am extremely
happy with the four animals I got. There was so much great food
every day. We will always remember the evenings around the campfire
telling hunting stories with friends. Linda really enjoyed her time
in the bush camp. She was thrilled to find hot, running water showers
& nice clean beds. I think she thought it would be like camping
in the woods. Instead she was treated like Royalty!! Some one to
fix GREAT MEALS, make the beds, etc. This was a VACATION for her.
She was especially grateful there was NO BUGS or CREATURES crawling
around. Everything was nice and clean …and friendly. Since
she does not hunt she was a little nervous about going. She rode
around with us some of the time and some of the time she stayed
at the camp. She enjoyed both. Thank you, Vanessa, for taking Linda
into Port Elizabeth to shop and see some of the country. She had
a great time. We thank both of you for the great hunt and vacation!!
You are the best.
THANKS!! We hope to come back some day!!

The quality of the hunt was excellent. The quantity and quality
of the animals was excellent.
I wanted my trophies to qualify for SCI. Kerneels and Charl were
superb at judging animals. I shot a 53 1/2' Kudu, 39 1/2' Gemsbuck
and a 23 1/2' Impala with lots of mass. The variety of species and
total numbers give you the choice of what you want.
The land we hunted was abundant cover for the animals.
The food and accomodation were excellent, above my expectations.
Everyone we dealt with was friendly, curtious and went the extra
mile to make my hunt enjoyable and memorable. I will go back, my
hunt was exceptional.

The hunt was even better than my expectations. Quality and quantity
of animals was exceptional. We looked over a great number of animals
before making a decision on our trophies. Getting animals to qualify
for SCI is not a problem. Two for example: 53 1/2 “ Kudu and
a 39 1/2 “ Gemsbuck.
Our professional hunters (Kernels and Charl) were excellent, friendly,
courteous and very knowledgeable about the species, habitat and
trophy quality. Accommodations, food and service were superb. What
started out as a once in a lifetime hunt left such a good impression
on me that I’m going back.
I give Bushveld Safari’s my highest recommendation, whether
you are a seasoned
hunter or a first timer to South Africa. As Americans we felt safe
and welcome.
