Valley Bushveld Safaris concession areas consist of 19 privately owned game farms, allowing us to operate within a 300 km radius from our home base, which is close to Addo in the Eastern Cape in search of the best plains game trophy animals such as Sable.
The Sable, also commonly know as the 'Swartwitpens', which means black white belly is second when it comes to horn length in Africa (Kudu have the longest horns)
This beautiful animal is aggressive and will not hesitate to charge if wounded, cornered or when threatened.
Both male and female carry horns. Bulls have a shiny black coat, while females and young display a dark reddish brown coat. Both male and female carry white belly and facial markings.
Sable are daily drinkers and can be ambushed. Or alternatively, they can be hunted early morning and late afternoon near open grasslands and move into thicker bush in the heat of the day to lie down.
Common Sable horn lengths between 38-43 inches
