Valley Bushveld Safaris concession areas consist of 19 privately owned game farms, allowing us to operate within a 300 km radius from our home base, which is close to Addo in the Eastern Cape in search of the best plains game trophy animals such as Warthog.
Hunting Warthog
Hunting warthog in the Eastern Cape can be challenging as well as exciting.
Warthogs are not territorial and are usually found near wet, muddy areas and water holes or in dense bush whilst digging out roots.
With a slight breeze in the your favor you might be able to approach a feeding warthog to within a few meters. Warthogs eye sight are under average but there hearing and sense of smell is extremely good.
Whilst feeding in tall grass it can be difficult to determine trophy size, so patience is needed until the Warthog lifts its head.
Male Warthogs tusks are thicker than females and males have 2 sets of warts on there faces, below the eyes and midway along the snout. Female Warthogs only have one set of warts below the eyes.
5 inches and higher are classed as a decent trophy.
